Yogi Lutz, 2012

As the head coach of the Alvernia Crusaders since 1987, Lutz has guided his teams to seven Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships in 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998, 2002, 2003, and 2005. His 2009 squad were also Freedom Conference Champions. Under Lutz, the Crusaders are 656-303-5 over 25 seasons. 

A resident of Mohnton, Lutz won his 600th game with Alvernia in 2010 and his 400th game after his team won the PAC championship in 2003. Lutz has taken his team to the Division III Mid-Atlantic Regionals seven times (1995, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2010). In 2002, the Crusaders reached the Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional championship for the first time.

In his time with Alvernia, Lutz has earned numerous coaching accolades including KAC Coach of the Year in 1988, NAIA District 19 Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1992, and PAC Coach of the Year in 1993, 1995, and 2003. Lutz received the Louisville Slugger Coaches Award in 1995 and 1998.
